2021 Insta Famous Beauty Review

Lockdown has left us all browsing the web more and undoubtably buying all of the newest beauty trends, but are these insta-famous beauty products worth the hype?

Glow Recipe Banana Souffle Moisture Cream 50ml £36- Cult Beauty

I have to admit I was skeptical to buy this because it's a fairly new brand to become available in the UK and its not cheap for a product with quite a simplistic packaging and perhaps a younger target audience. However, i am so so glad i did! The smell is incredible, fresh and not at all perfume like but still very noticeably banana scented= so good you'll want to eat it! The consistency is incredibly blend-able and lightweight so you only need a small amount to cover the whole face to leave you with glowing, soft skin. I will definitely be repurchasing this product and trying more from the brand!

Farsali Unicorn Antioxidant Lip Mask 6g £18

I really think that this product is overpriced for what it is. Meant to reduce thin lines, wrinkles and ageing, I don't find this product hydrating or moisturising at all. The picture on the website looks like it has a

fairly runny consistency whereas in real life it has almost got a waxy plastic texture to it. It reminds me of a lip balm you'd get free with a teenage girl's magazine. A simple chapstick or Carmex does a better job for a fraction of the price. On a more positive note, the packaging is pretty but I do feel that it's a popular product purely because of the brand using the theme of unicorns as some fancy mystical product when this product is really unremarkable.

Farsali Unicorn Essence 10ml

This is slightly better than the lip mask and does have a nice hydrating feel and thin consistency, however I do think its another product that profits massive of it's gimmicky nature of being an essence, which just immediately suggests to me that its not successful at targeting one specific issue but rather is just an aesthetic social media product used for likes. It is just another beauty product marketed under the unicorn theme to seem magical but really is very average and overpriced,

Haloscope Dew Effect Highlighter, £18 in shade Quartz

Everyone seems to be obsessed with the minimalism of Glossier which I understand when creating a stripped back everyday makeup collection. I am wearing the shade 'Quartz' which has pink undertones and it best for paler skin tones but they do a couple of other shades for darker tones as well. This stick highlighter is effective in creating a beautiful natural glow but is the product bold and very noticeable? No. Is this good for a natural look? Definitely. However, I would note that for the minimalist packaging, it is fairly expensive compared to a much cheaper alternative which I personally think is better at proving a striking glow. The Wet n Wild MegaGlo Makeup Stick Highlight. It can be bought for just £3 and I would choose to use over this over the Glossier version.

Glossier - Lip Gloss in Clear £11

The perfect glass lip. I love putting this over a natural nude liner for a beautiful modern take on everyday makeup. You don't get a huge amount of product however I do think its maybe not an everyday gloss due to how intense the shine and the fairly small amount of product you get however it is not too expensive to replace if you fall in love with it. It isn't too sticky or thick either like most glosses so that is definitely what sets it apart. You can also get this product in red, gold and pink.

GlamGlow Instamud 60-Second Pore-Refining Treatment 50ML, £32

Again, the bubbling nature of this product is very gimmicky and I'm sure you've all seen the purple bubbles in your Insta feed. I think GlamGlow is an inherently Insta based product however I do think this product has some merit in terms of the speed and refreshing lightweight consistency compared to other masks. I'm sure some of us have been put off face masks because some have thick textures that are hard to apply and are sticky and messy. This is very lightweight, soft and easy to remove once it has finished bubbling. Although it is fun to use and is fairly effective in softening the appearance of pores, i don't believe believe its an essential and i wouldn't necessarily repurchase it.
